“All aboard!” the conductor yelled out to the people at the train station.
A female of her early 20s had just arrived at the train station, carrying her bags with her. She was looking around the train station until she found the train she was supposed to board. She looked at her ticket, just to make sure it was the right train.
“Platform 9…” The woman said as she went to the train. She was too pre occupied at looking at her ticket that she bumped into this young handsome looking man that looked like he was no younger than 20.
“Sorry.” the woman said.
“It’s fine.” The handsome looking man said as he smiled at her and she couldn’t help but blush a little. He then showed the conductor his ticket and the woman showed the conductor hers.
“Thank you, miss and enjoy your ride.” The conductor said.
“Thank you.” The woman smiled.
She then went into the train and found a compartment to sit in, but someone was already in there and coincidently, it was the handsome guy she bumped into earlier.
“Oh, I’m sorry. Do you mind if I sit here? All the other seats are full.”
“I don’t mind, I always enjoy the company.” He smiled.
She put her things on the rack above the seat as she got her bag with her and laid it beside the empty seat. The woman sat down across from the handsome looking man.
“My name is Cedric.” He extended his hand and the woman shook it.
“I’m Camille. It’s a pleasure meeting you.”
“The pleasure is all mine.” Cedric said as he kissed Camille’s hand and she couldn’t help but blush again.
“So, where are you heading to?” Camille quickly changed the subject as Cedric let go of her hand.
“To the theatre in Paris…what was its’ name again?”
“L’Opera.” Camille smiled.
“Ah, yes. You’re heading there also?” Cedric asked.
“Yes, I am. I got cast as the detective in the play.” She smiled proudly.
“Ah, Detective Marie. I’m one of the suspects, but to be more detailed, I’m playing the murderer. Now it will be easy to find out who the killer is.” Cedric smiled as another person came in.
“Oh sorry. I didn’t know anyone was in here.” The lady said.
“It’s alright.” Cedric said.
“It’s fine.” Camille smiled.
“May I sit here?” the lady asked.
“You may.” Cedric said.
“We don’t mind.” Camille smiled as she touched her own hand and smiled at Cedric as he smiled back.
“Thank you. I’m Annabelle by the way.” The lady said as she put her bags on the rack and sat down next to me. Camille quickly moved her bag as she put it on her lap.
“Nice to meet you. I’m Cedric.” He extended a hand and Annabelle shook it.
“I’m Camille, nice to meet you.” She shook her hand as well.
“So, you two in the play also?” Annabelle asked.
“Yup, I play the detective.” Camille smiled.
“Oh, Detective Marie. I play the housemaid, Colette.”
“As for me, I play the murderer in the play.” Cedric said.
“Oh, I see. I’m sure you two will do great on your parts.” Annabelle smiled.
“And I’m sure you will also.” Camille smiled at her.
“By the way, this reminds me.” as Annabelle reached into her pocket and handed me a folded piece of paper out of her pocket. “I know you aren’t a real detective, not to be mean in any way, but I was wondering since you’re about to play one, maybe you can help me with this note I found in my bag as I was looking for my ticket.” As Camille took the note, she read it out loud:
“At the day of the end, the end will be after you. Following you always until it gets what the end wishes. Until then my dear Annabelle, I wish you to enjoy your last breaths of what is left.”
“Signed Ravion.” Camille folded up the note. “Do you mind if I keep this just in case?”
“Of course not.” Annabelle said.
She then put the note in her bag for further reference later on. “By the way, do you know who this Ravion is?” Camille asked.
“I never heard of that name before.”
“Ravion?” Cedric interrupted “That name sounds familiar.”
The two of them looked at him. “Where have you heard of that name before?” Camille asked.
“Let me think…Oh, I remember now. It was from a legend that my grandfather had told me about since he was a researcher. Let’s see…I believe it was about this elf who seeked the God of Death, but because he did, he was targeted as an enemy to all elves. Even his family turned against him. He journeyed throughout the world, hoping to find the god, but he was killed on the 13th day of his journey and the person who killed him was his own flesh and blood, his older brother Ravion.”
Camille decided to write some key notes about the legend in her notebook. “Hmm..interesting legend. If I ask for it later, remind me what it’s about just in case Cedric.”
“Will do.” Cedric said. The train finally started to move.
“Finally.” Annabelle said. Camille had a feeling this trip was going to be a long one.
She sighed, “Oh well, I might as well look around.” She put her notebook in her back pocket and stood up. “You two need anything while I’m gone?” Camille asked.
“I’ll accompany you.” Cedric stood.
“I’ll have a drink, if it’s not too much trouble.” Annabelle said.
“Not at all. Anything specific you want?” Camille asked.
“Not really, just anything will be fine. Thanks.” Annabelle smiled.
“Got it.” Camille then slid the door open as Cedric and her stepped out into the hallway. This train was fancier then any train that Camille has ever been on before, so she decided to take in the view by looking around.
“Is this your first time being on a train?” Cedric noticed her looking around.
“Well, no. I’ve never been on a train this fancy before. Talk about the Hollywood treatment.” She giggled.
“Ya, I know what you mean, but I used to travel a lot with my parents when I was younger because they go on business a lot and they let me come along sometimes since I would pretty much just stay out of their way.” Cedric said.
“Ah, I see. Hmm..where’s the kitchen by the way?” She asked as she looked around.
“It should be further down the hall.”
Camille kept walking as she looked around and then she saw twins pass by and it looked like one of them gave them a nasty look. She didn’t pay much attention to them, but little did they know, they would pay much more attention to them later on.
“Do you know those twins?” Camille asked as they finally arrived at the kitchen.
“Well..let’s just say, they’re close friends of mine.” He seemed hesitant as he answered her question.
Camille checked the fridge for drinks and she found a soda, so she just grabbed that for Annabelle. She then closed the fridge and the train’s turbulence picked up, making her lose my balance. She dropped the canned soda, but then Cedric caught her.
“Whoa, are you alright?” he asked.
Before Camille could answer that, the train’s turbulence picked up again and they both lost their balance as some of the utensils in the kitchen shook. She landed on top of Cedric as they fell on the kitchen floor and for a moment, Camille stared into Cedric’s eyes, something about them made her hypnotized.
“Are you alright?” Cedric asked. No response from her yet. “Camille?”
“Oh sorry, Ya, I’m fine. Thank you.” Camille responded as she shook her head out of that trance she was in and smiled at him. Cedric then pushed some hair behind Camille’s ear and leaned up. As Cedric was about to kiss her, they both heard a scream then gunshots. Camille quickly got up, knowing she will regret this later on, or maybe not, and helped Cedric up as they ran to where the gunshots were fired.
“It came from over there.” Cedric said as they saw a crowd of people and they pushed their way through. “Excuse me, pardon me.” As they finally pushed their way through, they saw a person shot, lying on the floor. Camille went over to examine the body to see if there were anymore clues she can pick up about the not so recent murder.
“Hmm..nothing. Gunshot wound…” Camille then stood up and announced, “Ladies and gentlemen, you just have witnessed a shooting, now you are all suspects. No one will leave this room without my permission and or until I find out who the murderer is.” Camille felt like a real detective even though she wasn’t one…or for now at least.
“Being a detective, are we?” Cedric said as he approached behind her.
“Hey, someone needs to be in charge of this case. Plus it’ll give me a chance to prepare for my role.” Camille smiled.
Only 15 minutes into this ride and a murder scene has already boarded the train, but little did they know, the murderer was upon them. This was definitely going to be a long train ride.
