“Eve! Eve! Are you alright? Don’t walk into the light!” Cedric said sarcastically.
“You better shut it before I make you walk into the light. I’m fine. I’m just tired.” Eve said as she stood up but then sunk back down again. Camille came over to help her and she braced Eve on her shoulders.
“I can see why you fell for him now.” Eve said sarcastically.
“Ya, I know what you mean. Come on, let’s get you dried up.” Camille said as she helped Eve walk down the hallway. She then stepped on the skin that Eve stepped on earlier. “What’s this?”
“It seems like some sort of skin or costume. The impersonator must have worn it when he tricked you and Cedric into thinking it was me.” Inspector Andrews said as he put on gloves and picked up the skin as it was evidence. “If you need to find me, I’ll be in compartment 140. Be sure to drop by.” Inspector Andrews then went up the stairs and was out of sight.
“Where did you find this?” Camille said as she took a closer look at the half of the Jack the Ripper letter.
“I found it when we were trying to look for your note and I found a piece of paper sticking out from the vent up there.” Eve explained.
“Then she fell, but I caught her. What did you see up there anyways, Eve?” Annabelle asked.
“Oh well..I thought I saw an eye looking at me. Crazy, I know.” Eve explained.
“Hmm..” Camille then climbed on the seat as she looked at the vent Eve mentioned earlier, “Hey, can one of you hand me a flashlight?”
“Here you go.” Saphira handed Camille.
“Thanks.” Camille then took the flashlight as she looked in the vent. She didn’t see anything. “Um..are you sure you saw something Eve?”
“I’m positive. I am..” Eve remembered no one knew of her other identity, so she quickly went silent.
“You are what?” Annabelle asked suspiciously.
“Oh, nothing.” Eve smiled innocently. Eve then looked over at Cedric for some kind of sign, but all she got was a look, telling her to be more careful next time, due to the fact that only Camille didn’t know that Eve was a vampire. Eve then slumped down in her seat next to Cedric.
Eve whispered to Cedric, “How are you holding up?”
“I can’t say it’s good and I can’t say it’s bad, but I can say I’ve been better then this.” Cedric held onto his arm as he rubbed it to ease the pain inside of him.
“Cedric, are you alright?” Camille took her seat on the other side of Cedric as she looked at him with concern.
“I’m fine, don’t worry.” Cedric smiled at her as Camille leaned on his shoulder.
“Oh, so something did happen in here while we were gone.” Annabelle spoke up.
“Ya, sis. I bet a lot did happen while we were gone.” Saphira giggled as Camille buried her head into Cedric’s shoulder.
“It’s nothing to be ashamed of, my dear.” Cedric patted Camille reassuringly on her shoulder.
“So, I assume you two are kind of together now?” Saphira asked.
“You can say that.” Cedric answered.
“Oh my gosh, I am so happy for you Camille.” Saphira took Camille’s hand in hers.
Cedric smiled down at Camille as he flinched a little bit. Camille noticed as she looked up at Cedric, “Cedric? Are you ok? Maybe you should get some rest. Our next stop should be in a few days. Then maybe we can get you to a doctor.”
“No, I’ll be fine, Don’t worry. I just need some air.” Cedric gets up as he walks out of the compartment.
“Maybe I should go check on him. Oh and Camille, before I forget, maybe this could be a clue to something.” Eve reached into her pocket as she pulled out the locket of Elizabeth Stride. “Look at the back, it says her birth date, but the weird thing is that it shows her death date as well and I didn’t see her too long ago either.”
Camille took the locket from Eve as she looked at the back as told and she caressed the engraving, “1888…that means she’s going to die this year?”
Eve nodded, “It’s possible, but this is just too weird. Her son dropped the locket, I tried finding him, but he was gone by the time I turned the corner.”
“The question is when she’s going to die…” Camille’s eyes widened. “Do you think she could be a victim of Jack the Ripper?”
“I can’t say, but we have to consider all the possibilities, anyways, if you will excuse me.” Eve bowed her head as she walked out of the compartment as well.
Annabelle and Saphira exchanged glances as Camille noticed, “Is there something you two haven’t been telling me?”
“Why would you say that, sis?”
“Oh, no reason. Sorry I have a lot on my mind right now.” There was silence and all that could be heard were the wheels on the train rolling on the train tracks. “…Do you two think Cedric loves Eve? I mean you told me that Cedric went into the forest right? Then suddenly Eve appears. I wonder where she came from.”
“Is this what this is about? Camille, don’t worry. As from what I see, Cedric loves you very deeply, even if you two only met 3 days ago.” Annabelle responded.
“Ya, Camille. Don’t worry about that. I can tell Cedric really loves you.” Saphira looks at her sister to try and make her smile.
Camille smiles, “Thanks you two. Ya, I was foolish for thinking something like that. I’m just tired.”
“Camille..do you think Jack the Ripper is on the train?” Saphira asked.
“It’s possible. Remember what happened in the book? He was a master of disguise. He could be any of us.” Camille looked out the window into the moonlit night.
“Cedric, are you ok?” Eve bent down as Cedric tried to keep himself from puking.
“Ya, I’m fine. Who knew turning into a vampire could be so difficult?” Cedric chuckled. “How about you, how are you holding up?” Cedric asked as he looked up at Eve.
“I’m doing alright, I guess. My vampire powers are slowly fading away though. I’ll miss being one.” Eve smiled.
“Hey, didn’t you say you saw Adam earlier?” Cedric said as he sat against the wall.
“Ya, that was strange. He probably escaped from the castle and snuck on here.”
“But why?” Cedric asked.
“Probably for revenge or something. Adam really is a nice person, he’s just…short tempered sometimes. He’s my brother and I know he cares for me, but he just has to understand that I want to become human again.” Eve stared at the wall.
“Why did you want to come along anyways? You could have just escaped somewhere else. And you could have just killed me right there, why didn’t you?” Cedric had all these questions in his head that he wanted to ask the vampire that is almost about to become human.
“Are we playing 20 questions or something? Or are you just curious?” Eve looked down at him as she leaned on the wall.
“The second one.” Cedric laughed.
“Ok, well, why did I want to come along? I thought it would be an easier way to hitch a ride and get away from the castle, plus I’m really not the type of person to kill someone. That should answer the why I didn’t kill you part. Plus, I thought going by train was a faster way as well. There are no other transportations around that deserted place. Anymore questions?” Eve asked sarcastically.
“Well, ya, but right now, I’m hungry. Can I eat human food still?” Cedric stood up.
“Ya, you still can, the process doesn’t take effect until 7 days, around a week. I’m starting to get a bit hungry as well. The human process is a bit longer then the vampire effect. If I remember correctly, it was around 31 days. Almost a full month.” Eve explained.
Cedric’s jaw almost dropped, “That long? Wow. Hmm, if you can become a human again, then can’t I become a human again before the vampire effect takes place?”
“Actually, I wish it was that simple, but you can’t combine the effects while one effect is taking place. It’s too dangerous.” Eve explained.
“Oh, I see. Which reminds me about the whole being hungry thing, let me tell Camille.” Cedric then opened the sliding door as he went inside and sat down next to Camille. Eve stood at the doorway. “Hey Camille, Eve and I are going to grab something to eat, care to join us?” Cedric directed the question to Camille as well as Annabelle and Saphira.
“No, thanks. I’m not that hungry.” Camille smiled weakly.
“I’ll come along though. I’m starting to get a tad bit hungry.” Annabelle stood up as she said her byes to her friends and went out with Eve.
“I’ll stay with Camille. We need to catch up on our sister bonding.” Saphira smiled.
“Well, ok then. I’ll bring you two back something. I’ll see you later.” Cedric then kissed Camille and said bye to Saphira, as he then left, leaving the sliding door closed behind him.
“I bet Annabelle went to spy on them.” Saphira said as Camille got up from her seat and started searching her bag, she then got out a notepad she was carrying earlier for the investigation. “Are we going to investigate some more?”
“I was about to ask you to come along, but that answer works and I don’t think Annabelle went to spy on them, didn’t you hear her stomach growling earlier?” Camille let out a little laugh.
“Oh ya, I remember now. I thought that was the train tracks.” Saphira then got up as Camille hit her shoulder. “Ow…what? That was supposed to be a compliment.” Saphira went out with her sister into the hallway.
“Ya, sure.” Camille said sarcastically as she closed the compartment door and walked down the hallway.
“Hey, Camille. Didn’t you say that Melody jumped out the bathroom window?” Saphira remembered her sister saying this information.
“Ya, well from what I saw. Then again, I didn’t really see her jump out of the window. Like we said earlier, she probably just slipped out.” Camille said as she thought back.
“How are you so sure it was Melody? It could have been Melanie, they are twins after all.” Saphira said in a mater of factly tone.
“Well her locket was left on the doorknob. Then again, they could have just easily switched their jewelry…” Camille said.
“Possibly. Did the twins tell you what room number they would be staying at?” Saphira asked.
“Actually, no. Cedric would probably know. He told me he was friends with Melody and Melanie.” Camille said as she turned around and started walking to the dining cart.
“Cedric said he was going with Eve and Annabelle to eat right?” Saphira asked.
“Ya, he did.” Camille then seemed distraught as she said those words.
“Are you still worried that Eve and Cedric have something going on between them?” Saphira asked a bit of an annoyance in her voice.
“A bit, but I’ll be fine.” Camille smiled.
A few minutes late, Saphira and Camille arrive at the dining cart as they looked around for Cedric. Saphira spotted Cedric as she called out his name and then Saphira grabbed Camille’s wrist towards his table.
“Hey, you two. I didn’t know you wanted to join us.” Cedric then got up as he kissed Camille and he sat back down.
“Oh, we can’t stay. We just wanted to ask you something, right sis?” Saphira said.
Camille was still in a bit of a daze from the kiss a few seconds ago and as Saphira hit her sister’s shoulder, Camille jumped a bit, “Oh, ya, right.” Camille smiled at Cedric shyly. “Um, Cedric, you know what room the twins are in right, Melody and Melanie?”
Cedric nodded, “Ya, why? Do you need it?”
“Ya, we’re continuing our investigation, but don’t let that stop you from eating though.” Camille said.
“Well, ok if you need us, you know where we are. Their room is, if I remember correctly, was 112. You two be safe, there’s been mass hysteria going on ever since Larry Harmon got shot.” Cedric had a concerned look on his face.
“Don’t worry, we’ll be fine.” Camille then looked at the empty seats. “Hey, isn’t Annabelle and Eve supposed to be with you?”
“Ya, they just went to the bathroom.” Cedric said.
“Well, I’ll see you later.” Camille then this time decided to kiss Cedric instead of him kissing her. As she was about to part away, Cedric held her by her waist as he kept kissing her.
Saphira then noticed as she decided to let this go on for a couple of minutes as then she checked her watch in annoyance, Saphira then cleared her throat as she then grabbed Camille by the wrist and pulled her to her feet, “Sorry to ruin this moment, but we have to get going now. Bye Cedric.” Saphira then led her sister away from Cedric.
“Bye, Cedric.” Camille smiled as she waved. “Did you have to do that?” Camille whispered to Saphira.
“Well, no, but at the same time yes. That kiss almost lasted 3 minutes. Even for a kiss, that’s long, plus we still have to check out the twin’s compartment remember?” The sisters were now out of the dining hall and heading for Melody and Melanie’s compartment.
“Oh, sorry. Well there’s just something about Cedric that I can’t seem to figure out. Plus this is the first time in centuries I have felt this way about anyone, Saphira. I think I’m in love with him.” Camille said as she then arrived in front of the compartment that had the numbers 112 on a gold plate to the right of the door.
“I really am proud of you, sis and that’s really great, but you just met the guy, all I’m saying is just to watch yourself.” Saphira said.
Camille opened the sliding door, “Don’t worry, Saphira. I’m a big girl now, I think I can handle myself around a guy I just met.”
“Well, ok if you say so. I’m just worried about you that’s all and everyone else on this train. A lot of weird things have been happening ever since the shooting of Larry Harmon.” Saphira then followed in with her sister.
“Ya, I know. I’m glad we got on this train now.” Camille turned her head and smiled at Saphira.
“You were always the intrigued one when we were little and you still are now.” Saphira said.
“Ya, I know.” Camille looked around as she was trying to find clues to what really happened.
Saphira then as well looked around as she then noticed a stain on her shirt, “Aww man, how did I get this stain? I like this shirt too.” She then tried to get the stain off as a drop landed on her cheek, she then touched her cheek as she saw it was some kind of red liquid, as she looked up, she then saw something sticking out of the luggage rack above. “Hey, Camille. I think I found something.”
Camille then went to where Saphira was, “What did you find?” Saphira pointed to the luggage rack above them and Camille climbed up on the seat to get a better look. What she found was beyond your detailed beliefs.
