Not Alone

Once upon a time is how most stories go

But this is real life

There are no knights in shining armor

No happily ever after endings

People are dying every day

It seems we are alone

To defend ourselves and to struggle on our own

This is how I always thought the world went

That is until I met you

You said no one was really alone that there was someone for everyone if we only look

I said that you were wrong that there was no one for me

You said that there was someone who cared for me

I said that no one cared for me

You said that there was

I asked you who

You said that you cared for me

I asked why

You said that you loved me

Tears slid down my cheeks

You wiped them away and pulled me to you

You held me whispering nothings into my ear

When I stopped crying I pulled away

You kept your arms around me

I looked into your eyes and realized that there was someone for everyone

I said that I loved you

You pulled me close and kissed my forehead

From that day on I knew I wasn’t alone or that I didn’t have to struggle alone

It seems real life can have happily ever after’s
