A dog can run without stopping for two hours long,

And a dog knows you better than you do,

He knows that you’re lying when you say, “nothing’s wrong.”

When you’re not there dog can appear aloof,

But he’ll feel much better,

When he knows you’re safe under his roof.

A dog can walk down the street with a smile on his face,

Even though he’s starving and famished,

And does he have a home? There is no such place.

He may not know his words so he cannot speak,

But he is a good listener,

He knows when you’re weak.

A touch of the nose or a wag of the tail,

When a happy dog’s beside you,

You know you cannot fail.

He’s someone to talk to,

On those cold rainy days.

He does whatever you do,

And does he complain? Of course not!

Because there are so many things a dog can do.

He’s more than a pet,

He’s your friend, loyal and true.
