LYING AWAKE
This idea was given to me by a friend of mine, and she also gave me some lines. Half of the credit goes to her. Hahaha ü I got a little tired of rhyming so I hope you’ll forgive me for reverting to this style of writing. ü
--------------------------------------------------------------
Staring at the clock
I’m wide awake again,
Listening to the sound of silence.
Everything just seems so pointless.
The light from the moon is enticing
But somehow, the sight is not right.
I look over at my desk
And see my things lying around.
My mind is a mess as usual
Scattered thoughts here and there.
Through the haze one thing comes to my mind
The obscurity of life at its finest.
How such simple truths could be masked
And designed with different hues
To create this facade of beauty.
This temperamental world evolves,
Creating nothing.
I seek the heavens for my meaning
Only showing my frailty.
Not all was lost
For when I looked at you.
I saw something real
Both the glory of the past
And the hope for the future.

Author’s Notes: Thank you for finishing another of my poems. I got into a slump when writing it, so a big “thank you” goes out to my friend Yca, who helped me get this up and running. The next poem, “Gravitational Pull”, is her revision of this poem, so don’t be surprised if her poem looks a lot like mine. I provided an explanation at the end of “Gravitational Pull’ for those who are interested. Ü Please review both poems, so we can both find out our strengths and weaknesses, also to let us know what kind of material readers are looking for now. Arigatou! ü
