The Storyteller
One
of the most important groups of people in the world is the
storyteller. If a storyteller can make good use of his imagination,
he can change the world.
He can make us feel sorry for those we
mistreat. He can change the way we look at people who are different
from us. He can stir our hearts towards our country or he can make us
bitterly hate it. The power belongs to the storytellers, for they
change and shape our reality with their little stories. They are
everywhere telling us stories. Are their stories true or just
products of their fertile imaginations? We know stories of dragons
are false, don't we? Are they? Maybe, the storyteller wants us to
think. Maybe, the dragon is a symbol that represents something else.
Maybe, the casts of characters in his silly stories are not people at
all. Maybe, they are ideas, emotions, and representations of
institutions. His childish stories may not be so childish after all.
Maybe, we are childish for not seeing what the storyteller has told
us. His silly stories may hold the key that we can use to unlock the
door of true wisdom.
The storyteller grows old and tired now. The
campfire burns low and soon it shall be out. When the fire is gone,
he shall be gone. We must take a moment out of our lives and sit by
the fire and hear him speak. Let us hear him and remember his
stories, for when the fire is out, it will be just us left to tell
the story. We must continue the story and search for its meaning. If
we cannot find the meaning, we must build a fire and become the
storyteller. If we keep the story going, someday we will find its
meaning.
