My appearance is unchanging,
Immortal, yes I am,
I wish to age much more,
Be a beaver's fragile dam.

I made a deal with the devil,
So afraid of death and ugliness I'd weep,
He had me sign a contract,
For this appearance I now keep.

I used to look quite older,
A wrinkle or two here and there,
This change rightly scared me,
I used to look fine and fair.

One night while I wept,
And sobbed into my hands,
The devil appeared before me,
I was placed into a trance.

I woke up, feeling I dreamt well,
Of a contract the devil made,
That I had signed to keep me young,
For my soul to never fade.

I looked into my mirror,
And sadly to my surprise,
I saw a young beautiful girl there,
This was my new disguise.

"It has been 12 years Lynn,
And you have not yet aged,"
My new young friends, becoming wrinkled,
Would enviously say.

After another couple thrity,
My new friends were old and died,
I pretended it never bothered me,
Though my soul would always cry.

I went with courage to the devil,
And pleaded him to make me dead,
Though he never agreed,
His decision heavy as lead.

Soon my body was weak,
And to my surprise my soul came out,
I never spoke to the devil again,
He'd not help me, I do not doubt.

So let this be a lesson,
To all of you afraid to grow,
Do not deal with the devil,
Take it from me, I know.
