Ode to El Burrito

Oh savory burrito

Rolled into a

Jacket of shiny warm foil;

You set my

Taste buds cheering

With such amazing flavor;

Stuffed to bursting

With cold, ripe apple slices

Amid sticky warm peanut butter

And sandy white sugar

Melting in my mouth;

You bring back memories

Of such days passed

When you alone

Made my day;

And still it’s the same

As I relish your flavor

Your body of egg

Wrapped up so tight

In the arms of the tortilla;

Your drippy butter

Greedily licked from fingers

To the point

I desire more;

Another brown delight

To rip apart

With insatiable teeth

And once again taste your flavor;

Oh, toasty warm burrito

With arms of wheat;

The sweet tortilla smell

That only you procure;

The sizzling warmth

Of the flame

And the hums

Of satisfaction;

Homemade from my heart

Cooked just right

To set my taste buds cheering.
