Lilac

I stood amid the trees
hiding from the breeze
I shouted to the wind
words of joy and grinned

I lay amid the flowers
basking in the soft spring showers
I watched the clouds flow by
and wished I could extend my wings and fly

I watched the sun go down
leaving yellow light to drown

I stood upon a hilltop
As the moon came up
And watched the sky blacken
leaving sunlit pieces broken
smearing blues and violets into blacks

And I stood with lilac flowers in hand
counting petals by the wind
Watching darkness closing in.
