One god usually many

Worshiped day by day

Ra, Zeus, Thor, and other traces

Of long since religions thrown away

Statues and buildings

Showing lives of people long ago

Though romanced in many ways

Our time is better then you know

I may dream of the romanced middle ages

Or seeing the gods and goddesses of Greece

And ancient Egypt, where the winds of desert storms never cease

Or the freedom of the north, central, and South American tribes

With their love for the land, advances in science and math,

And stories that transcend time

Or even to golden Babylon,

Where the fountains of beauty once stood

And the glamour of pirates,

Living day to day in whatever place they could

Yet most of the things I and others love

Are they myths and fantasies that can be reached only by pen or mind

Elves, magic, and myths of Hercules and Odysseus

Reality in them none can find

With glory just a myth and magic just a fanciful wish,

And so I end this poem saying this

Dreams are only as powerful as they are made

That is why the glory and romance of the past will never fade.
