May the gray clouds of darkness quickly depart
To set free the heavens and lighten my heart;
Sweep back the dim shadows, unleash the stark night –
Cast sideways glum curtains and welcome the light.
May the stars shimmer brightly upon the dawn break
To glint in the moonlight and shine in sun’s wake;
Release the pale starlight; bask in the new day –
As darkness runs bleakly and falters astray.
May the first chords of birdsong sweetly arise
To glide and to soar where the mellow sky lies;
Look past the dark grasslands, where blissful hues teem
Toward the wide oceans and sea-captured gleam.
May dream-raveled meadows elude cloying sleep
To hold the young daybreak and rise from the deep;
Let go the wild dreamland, fall back from night’s charms
Find shelter in sunrise and in the dawn’s arms.
