summer’s coming warmth drapes
the sides of the canyon
caught in spring’s still beating silence

careless feet flung over the dock
pale skin that hid from winter
now glows warmer
in the easing sunlight
sliding gently from the sky

lilac blossoms twirl in my finger
and i whisper sweetly as each one gently floats
to the surface of the water
and watch as they ripple slowly away
leaving only a faint fragrance behind

reminiscent; like the fleeting scent of love
that envelops you quickly
(and steals away time)

count life’s blossoms
and your blessings, darling
for i might just fall
for you again
someday
