Sonnet #6: ID

What satisfaction can exist inside

Perpetual dreams? What fantasies can
Be exposed without my shame drawing nigh?

I have deceived myself repeatedly and

I don’t have the time to feel emotion;

There’s no need to waste time on such distrust,

Or put romance into such equations.

All love can be costly, but free is lust,

Free is unadulterated desire.

Passionate sinful thoughts leave me wanting

To forget what is right and be a liar.

More or less, my appetite is haunting.

And though ‘tis not ideal, I must confess

I crave to be numb, and care even less.
