I sighed as I plopped down onto my comfortable mattress back at home. Chance would never cheat on me, would he? As if on cue, my phone rang, and I rushed over to pick it up. Of course, it was him.

“Hey,” I breathed into the phone.

“Hey Miranda,” Chance said from the other end. “I was wondering if you wanted to go catch a movie or something tonight, since it’s the weekend.”

“Sure,” I agreed. I needed a break from my family anyways.

“Okay, I’ll come pick you up in about,” he paused, “twenty minutes. Sound good?”

“Sounds great,” I smiled. “See you then.” I pressed a button on my phone and hung up.

I quickly changed my clothes. It took me ten whole minutes to decide on wearing my red halter dress. For the other ten minutes, I paced around my room for what seemed like forever until the doorbell finally rang. I took my time glancing at my reflection in the mirror before running downstairs to answer the door.

“Hey,” I said to Chance, brushing back my hair with my fingers.

We carefully walked down the front steps. Chance’s brother drove us to the theater, and we quickly purchased our tickets and popcorn. The two of us sat near the back of the large, dark room.

We had only been watching the commercials for about five minutes when Chance suddenly stood up from his seat. “We should go,” he suggested.

“Why? The movie hasn’t even started yet.”

Chance hesitated, and looked around. “I’m…I’m not feeling too good,” he said, pretending to clutch his stomach. “Must have been something I ate.”

“Oh, Chance,” I rolled my eyes. Did he really think I believed him? “Sit down, you’ll be fine.”

“Chance is that you?” somebody was saying. The person was approaching us now, and I noticed that she was a tall girl with beautifully long, dark brown hair. “Who’s that?” she said jealously, pointing at me.

"We'll save you a seat," one of her friends whispered to the tall girl before hurrying off.

“Um…a friend,” Chance replied.

The girl crossed her arms. “A friend, is it?” she said suspiciously, moving her tongue around in her mouth.

“And who are you?” I asked quite rudely.

“I’m Natasha, his girlfriend,” the girl smirked.

I stood up from my seat, crossing my arms. “Girlfriend?” I nearly screamed.

The girl nodded proudly.

“But…but I thought I was…” my voice trailed off.

Natasha raised her eyebrows. “Excuse me?” she said. “I’ve been going out with Chance here for almost a year…Chance, what is going on?” she demanded.

I shook my head disbelievingly, tears filling my eyes. I was no longer listening to their conversation. Lola was right. The next thing I knew, I was pushing myself through s swarm of people and storming out of the theater.

Once I was outside, I flipped open my cell phone. How could Chance do this to me? My fingers automatically punched in the numbers of my home phone.

“Mom?” I sniffed.

“Miranda sweetie, what’s wrong?” It was good to hear the sound of my mom’s familiar voice again.

“Mom, I need to be picked up. Now. I’m at the theater.”

"Lola, I'm so sorry I didn't believe you, I was just too busy with school, and Chance, and just...everything," I nearly sobbed into the phone.

"It's okay, Miranda," Lola responded forgivingly.

"I bet Chance spread those rumors about me," I said angirly.

Lola was silent, so I knew it had to be true.

"It just seemed like you really liked Chance, I seriously thought you were tying to..." I continued, not bothering to finish my sentence.

"I did like him," Lola confessed. She took a deep breath. "Miranda, do you promise not to get upset?"

"I promise," I said in a shaky voice as I twisted the phone cord around my index finger.

"The truth is, Chance asked me out way before he started going out with you. But I turned him down."

A/N: Chance & Miranda are back, baby! After not working on it for so long…wow. I started to forget my own characters’ names. Can you believe it? Sorry for the huge lack of updates…wow, 9 reviews. As I said last time, this story is falling apart so don’t expect it to be realistic or anything. It’s just whatever I think up at the moment. It’s so messed up between Chance & Miranda & Lola & “newcomer” Natasha. I’m having fun at least.

Just a warning: the ending may not be exactly what you call “satisfying” because I really want to get back to working on “Boarding School Secrets” ha. It’s amazing how many stories I TRY to write at a time. I really should finish them. But I’m trying my very best. I’m so busy this summer.
