The Day That Wouldn't Die
By: Jadalycya
"It's ok, just breathe", Mylie said, holding Kylie's hand. "Breathe, that's good. Breathe."
Kylie, Mylie's best friend since, birth had been in labor for the past nine hours and needless to say, Mylie is thinking about getting Kylie a stress ball to squeeze instead of her hand. Finally, after much pushing, screaming and Mylie needing to have her hand x-rayed, Kylie had given birth to a gorgeous, six pound, eleven ounce, twenty-one inch long baby boy, which she named Adam.
Mylie finally left Kylie's side two days and a red tricycle later, only to go home and find that the whole front of her apartment building was being redone and due to that, she was now battling worms in her kitchen.
"Dang worms! Get! Get! Get! GET!!", she yelled, whacking her dish towel at the counter in a whip-like manner.
Just then, as the clock struck two in the afternoon, Mylie's door buzzer rang only to find out that her her sister, Candis was here to talk to her for four hours on end.
"Hey you", Candis said with a smile, giving Mylie a hug and coming inside.
"Hi, Candis", she replied in a less than joyfull tone.
"What's up with you?", Candis asked, sitting down on the couch in the livingroom with a bottle of water.
"Bad day. I-", she started but was cut off.
"Bad day? Boy, you wanna talk about bad days, I had probably the worst day that you can get", Candis said, taking a drink from her water bottle. "First, I get woken up at four in the morning, get that? Four in the morning, and do you know what woke me up? My boss calling me to tell me that he needed me to pick up his dog at the vet, take the dog to his ex-wife's house, pick up his dry-cleaning, stop by the coffee shop and get his morning coffee and fill out fifteen depo reports all before eight o'clock. I mean, hello, how the heck can I do all of that in four hours? I just wanna..."
Mylie started to tune out her sister's ranting voice and began to think about random things that just happened to be floating through her brain.
"... You know? Jeez, you'd think that the guy would get the concept that an apostrophe is a puncuation mark and also speaking to someone and about them at the same time..."
"I wonder if I could get the tile I need for the bathroom, cheaper at the hardware store", Mylie thought to herself, while pretending to listen to her sister.
"... I mean, I know I should have been paying attention to where I was going, but how can I do that when I have to pay attention to where he is going at the same time I have to pay attention to where I am going?..."
"I still need to borrow Rent from Toko so that I can watch it", she thought again, while nodding and uh-huh'ing to her sister.
Mylie went up to her apartment, disconnected the door buzzer, shut off all of the lights, drew all of the curtains and blinds and just layed in the darkness, on her bed, being now fully thankful that she didn't have to deal with her ex-boyfriend. Then the phone rang. She smashed it against the wall and went to sleep.
