Good Friend, Goodnight

His name was William, the paper says he died last week after a cocaine overdose. His name was William, but in high-school we called him Scooter. We called him this because he rode an electric scooter to school even after the breaks went out and he had to stop it with his foot. Everyday he’s roll through the parking lot, ruining his shoes so the scooter wouldn’t run away from him. Everyday he’d throw his scooter in the bed of my pickup truck to avoid using up a space. Everybody loved Scooter, but the day he found out Daisy was cheating on him with another guy, he turned to heavy drinking and cocaine.

William “Scooter” Pleasant. Loving friend and

dedicated party man. Always knew how to cheer

us up. Get the drinks ready, man, we love you.

His name was David, and the paper says he died last week in his sleep. If you knew David, you’d know that he probably died of heartbreak. David, in high-school we called him Romeo. He’d find a girl, swear she was “the one”, and a week later he’d change his mind. Everyday he’d have his new girlfriend drive him to school, he spent so much money on cologne and hair gel that he couldn’t afford gas. Scooter was the only one that ever understood Romeo, the rest of us just thought him to be some sort of sex maniac. You couldn’t ever be mad at him, though, he brought the majority of our girlfriends to us. He used to call it “recycling”. Girls like Daisy and Marie, they always seemed to move on to Scooter and me very quickly.

David “Romeo” Barnett. What’s more to say?

Don’t take all the good virgins, friend. We’ll

miss you.

Her name was Marie, and the paper says that last week she was raped and murdered. But if you ever knew Marie, you’d know that she fought back. That’s why we called her Mars, after the Roman god of war. She was quick to earn this name, because from the first fight she had in kindergarten through her years in high-school, she’d fight anyone that challenged her beliefs or messed with her friends. She stood up for everyone. Everyone from the girl that stole her lunchbox to the abusive boyfriend who hit her in the courtyard, she never lost. She fought for everyone, but she was closest to Daisy, who backed her throughout the years.

Marie “Mars” Louis. Beautiful girl who’s warm

smile went cold way too early. You show them,

girl. We love you.

Her name was Daisy, and the paper says that last week she was run over by a coked up psycho. If you ever knew Daisy, you know that she probably deserved it. Daisy was the girl everyone who has ever been through high-school knows. The “perfect” little angel. Cheerleader, head of student council, accepted into three colleges. Naturally, she turned all the guys’ heads. First Romeo, who recycled her to Scooter. The only person she was every loyal to was Marie, however. Unfortunately, she double crossed the wrong guy, and took the last precious thing from his life… her.

Katherine “Daisy” Smith. Great smile, American

Poster child. You gave it all up for me, and I’ll never

forgive myself. We love you.
