Letting go
...
This anger that builds up inside me
Has an unidentified source
And it bursts to the surface; rips through my skin
With unimaginable force
This pain that has no roots
But remains here nonetheless
It appears at a moments notice
And I feel I must confess
At times I
((think of letting go))
Let all the pain flow out my wrist
((think of letting go))
And of the knife held in my fist
((think of letting go))
Take one more step off of the bridge
And end
This pain
Tonight
Prescription pill and therapy
Can’t make someone care
Lies and painful smiles make it
All too much to bear
She saw through the forced smiles
And I thought she understood
But in the end, did it really
Do me any good?
Again I
((think of letting go))
Let all the pain flow out my wrist
((think of letting go))
And of the knife held in my fist
((think of letting go))
Take one more step off of the bridge
And end
This pain
Tonight
((think of letting go))
but I still hold on by a thread
((think of letting go))
And think about the things you said
((think of letting go))
As I lie awake in my bed
I’ll bear
this pain
tonight
