Haikus to the Princess

Frustration builds up

As communication breaks

Unable to mend.

Thoughtless, forsaken

Confusion reigns supreme here

Left without answers.

A chill plate for mine

Rally not your spears and swords

Turn the phalanx home.

Hiding alone there

Your shell takes all of the brunt

The carapace breaks.

Fleeing for the hills

Running from yourself and it

Never lets you rest.

The tower of blood

Captive in stone, ivy cloak

Punishing yourself.

Exiled in penance

Chains of pain and sadness bind

Snuffing out the truth.

Humiliation

Drawn and quartered by lost love

But I forgive you.

Trespasses of hearts

Trampled flat by loneliness

Red stains underfoot.

Yet walking forward

Leads you where you need to be

You will find it there.

Don’t stare back too long

The void of guilt consumes all

But learn and stand up.

When you find it then

You will know the conquered past

And slay your demons.

Those of your own sculpt

Their bodies stilled by your hand

Then they will teach you.
