She didn’t know what to do.
“Well, just improvise, baby.”
But baby can’t improvise a thing.
She’s got no skill in impromptu,
Can’t pull phrases straight out of her as(s)–
-inine words are the product
Because she hasn’t enough class
To give you something stronger.
She can’t stay stuck on repeat
And expect something better
(Because she hears that
Insanity is catching this season).
“Honey, maybe you can talk about the weather."
But honey lacks grace in communication.
Perfection of expression is in articulation,
And she can’t think of proper formulation –
Without enough time and concentration.
Baby once tried her best at improvisation;
Yeah, honey once felt the urge of inspiration.
But she heard that insanity was starting to catch,
So she ignored desire and let the fire pass.
Stuck on repeat, she talks of the weather.
It’s always the same.
(“Cloudy day, chance of rain.”)
She looks at the skies
And thinks of something better:
“Maybe baby should improvise.”
But revelations don’t last;
She lets opportunity pass -
Because baby can’t improvise a thing.
