Untouchable Now

Another poem for my friend, it hurts so much that I can't save her from herself...Kind of weird.

You hold your head so high
And tell me you're so strong
Then there's me trying not to cry
Because honey, I just know you're wrong

Darling I love you so much
To eternities no one can touch
But you are just fading away
Laughing at the words I say
Pretend I don't know anything
Break away and just be "free"
Tell me it's more than a fling
But your broken heart is all I see

You try and say it's all ok
That you are really in control
I almost believe you too
But I still see your soul
It's right there calling to me
And when I look I want to flee
Because there's nothing I can do
To keep him from hurting you

I feel so alone without you here
My heart is empty, I can't see why
When your love for me has disappeared
It's almost easier to tell myself that lie
Than admit you might die tonight
Because then I can pretend I won't cry

You hold your head so high
And tell me you're so strong
Then there's me waving goodbye
Because honey, I just knew you were wrong
