Gone...Memory thought. Everything is gone...For three days she wondered through houses, streets, and forest. And there was nothing, no one. For more than three days, she hadn't heard a sound that didn't come from her, and she didn't see anyone other than the reflection of herself in mirrors.

Every house she went through was empty of people and animals, but from everything Memory had seen, it looked as if everyone had simply walked away from whatever they were doing. In some houses meals were still on tables. Lights were left on. Clothes were half laid out, as if someone was in the middle of dressing. Flowers were half planted. Things were not put away, paintings were left half painted.

Memory had no idea what had happened. She had woken up one morning, and everyone was gone. For a while she had just though her family had gone out to breakfast and didn't want to wake her, but she started to worry when they didn't come back. She had tried calling her parents cell phone, but the home phone wasn't working. It wasn't unusual; their phone often went off at random times. After a few more hours, Memory decided to walk over to the neighbor's house. Maybe her parent's had told them something?

No one answered the door in the house next to hers. She tried the handle, and found it open. She walked in, calling out a hello. No one answered. Memory walked all around the house, and found it disturbing how things were started but not finished. There was even a glass of orange juice in the kitchen that had been knocked over what looked like hours ago, and it wasn't cleaned up. It wasn't like her neighbors; they were neat freaks.

Now worried and scared, Memory went to all the houses around hers, and found them in similar states. For three days after that, she walked all around the city. She slept for a few hours at night in one of the houses, scared that someone would walk in and find her there. She also ate in the houses, and always tried the phone. Everywhere, the phone lines were disconnected.

After three days, Memory was on the verge of hysterics. She hadn't seen or heard anyone, or any animal. I'm going to go crazy before I find anyone, she though. That is, if there's anyone left.

-

That night, she walked into a little house, intending to look around, then eat and sleep there. Like all the other houses, this one was in the same state of disarray, with things left on the floor and rotten food on the table. There was one difference, though.

The phone worked.

Almost crying with fear and relief, she held it up to her ear to listen to the dial tone. Quickly, she dialed the first number that came into her head, her parent's cell number.

It rang.

And it rang.

Then it stopped, and a small click was heard.

"Hello?" A small, scared voice answered. It was too high a voice to be her parents, or her brother's. But it was someone.

"Who are you?" Memory asked.

"Jenabell...Who are you? Where are you? I haven't seen or heard anyone in days!" Her voice kept getting louder, until she had to stop before she started to cry.

"I know, I know. Calm down. My name's Memory. I haven't seen or heard anyone in days either. Where are you?"

Jenabell gave her a street name.

"That's about three miles from where I am. Stay there, okay? I'll be there in a couple hours."

Jenabell agreed to stay there, and gave her the house number of the one she was going to stay in. Memory quickly left, wondering who Jenabell was, and if there were any others like them.

-

Walking quickly, almost running, it took Memory not even an hour to reach the address Jenabell gave her. She walked in, calling out a hello to announce her presence.

No one answered.

Worried, Memory walked around the house, going through every room but the kitchen, she found no one. Thinking that Jenabell had to be in there, she walked in.

Where she found no one.

Panicking, Memory ran out of the house, and into the ones around it. She must have gotten the house number wrong, Memory though to herself. She was so scared she couldn't have left. But...What if she disappeared too?

After finding no one in any of the surrounded houses, she walked slowly back into the first one. She knew there was no one there, but she looked through the house anyway, and then stopped in the kitchen.

On the table were several plates of food. All the food on the plates was rotten...except for one.

Memory did the first two things that came into her mind: She screamed. And then she passed out.

A/N::This creeped me out while I was writing it. Just thought you should know that.
Anyway, this came to me when I was watching a video on youtube for the song "Poncho and Lefty," with scenes from a movie or show called Harsh Realm. It was a couple of the scenes from that that gave me the idea. (To see said video, go here:: )
One last thing: If anyone who reads this knows what Harsh Realm is, could you review or send me a message, and describe it? I'll love you forever and ever if you do!
