Wash Over Me
The water around her is warm, so inviting. She takes a breath and lets herself fall under, giving herself to the gentle undertow. She looks up to the sky through the water and squints, the sun's rays threaten to temporarily blind her but the threat is never completely carried out as the water distorts the light. She pushes up through the water, eyes still on the sky, and gasps when she breaks through the surface. Closing her eyes, she uses her hands to slick her hair back, keeping it out of her face, out of her eyes.
A hand on her cheek makes her open her eyes, hands still locked at the back of her head. She stares at eyes the color of sea foam, curious eyes that are staring back at her intently. A sense of panic starts to rise within her; this... this thing is not human. Her hands fall away from the back of her head as she pushes back in the water suddenly. He stays where he is, the hand that was once on her cheek now outstretched in the water, palm down.
She brings a hand to her mouth as she stares at the enchanting creature in front of her. He has blue skin paler than the sky; his long hair is a rich shade of royal blue with midnight blue bangs pushed mostly to one side, framing his face, the rest of it hooked behind one pointed ear. He suddenly pushes forward, coming at her again slowly; he breaststrokes, this is when she notices his hands are webbed.
Both of his hands are placed onto her shoulders. She does not dare to move away. She looks at his hands, watching as they slowly move higher up along her neck, caressing her gently, until they stop on her cheeks. He moves closer still, until their chests are almost touching. She wants to shove at him, push him away and swim until she reaches the shore, then run until her legs buckle under the strain – but she is unable to. She cannot tear herself away from the creature; far too afraid, far too engrossed in the magic of the moment.
She opens her mouth to speak and he cocks his head to the side. Her voice is caught her throat, she notices the ghost of a smile on his pale blue lips. Suddenly she finds it hard to breathe and he is coming closer still, leaning forward with only his upper body. Her mouth closes, she blushes; his lips are suddenly being pressed to hers gently.
When he pulls away, she is left gasping for a breath she had never meant to hold. He is still smiling at her even as he pushes back in the water. Her eyes widen when a blue fin rises up from the water and brushes under her chin. She reaches out to touch, to hold, but his fin slips back into the water. Looking up, she sees him turn around and dive into the depths of the ocean of her dreams.
