Inviting Dance

Exotic music marches through the night

The candles sway with a flickering light

Their heavy flumes clutter the air

Silhouettes swirl ‘round without a care

Step into this daze- do dare!

“Thump!” cry unseen drums

Listen to the beats and hums

The volume falls so very low

But, hold on! It’s not time to go

Just hold on and- crescendo!

Be swept into the hypnotic trance

Don’t look back- not one glance!

“Step in a circle,” instruments say

Let all your thoughts float away

Hold her close in this inviting dance

This is a poem I wrote for English at the end of our poetry unit.
