A/N: This was originally intended to be a song (hence the repetition in places) but I think just because of length, it works better as a poem. The subject matter is extremely dark (heroin addiction) but I'm rather fond of it, as far as my crappy poetry goes.

---

My mouth is dry,

My eyes are red,

There's nowhere left to rest my head,

No place to stay,

Now turned astray,

My whole world has been blown away.

Down that dark rabbit hole,

Through the garden of white roses bleeding red,

I dared to dream and now the tide's too high above my head,

Left drowning in the tender arms of my former lover,

Lost the key, it occurs to me, I can see that Wonderland-

Now Wonderland is over.

Lost control,

Left destitute,

Swallowed whole,

And then spit out,

Still can't resist,

Must scratch the itch,

Veins will sing in perfect pitch,

My eyes are glazed,

A glassy gaze,

Is now the way I see my world,

In rainbow hues, distorted views, kalaedoscopic swirls

Drank from a poisoned well,

No soul left to sell,

This is my own private black paved road to hell,

The itch is there, beneath my skin,

Fill the vial,

Plunge the needle in,

Partake once more of my darkest sin,

Just hold fast,

It's in my grasp,

This time I'll make the darkness last,

Just one final time,

Just one last high,

One more for the road,

Nothin' left to lose,

This is the path I choose,

Pick up the phone,

Answer the call,

Don't give a damn how far I fall,

Once more down that dark rabbit hole,

Through the garden of white roses bleeding red,

I dared to dream and now the tide's too high above my head,

Left drowning in the crushing arms of my former lover,

Lost the key, it occurs to me, I can see that Wonderland-

Now Wonderland-

Maybe Wonderland's not over,

Maybe Wonderland's not over after all.
