Open your eyes Love, I need you awake
I realize that living’s a big chance to take

But so is chasing after death
And letting the darkness steal your breath

Heart monitors shudder, so do I
If ‘love is watching someone die’

Then I love you like no other
So why aren't you looking back at me, lover?

And ‘if you love something give it away’
If it’s true why aren’t you coming back to me, to stay?

As long as you stay in this hospital bed
My heart will grow heavier due to a logical head.

The breathing and beeping growing slowly farther apart
You can’t leave like this and just depart.

If love is forver then why are you leaving
To go off to a place far beyond retrieving?

Your slipping through my fingers, away into the hourglass of time
Floating off into the distance, a jumbled bunch of blurring lines

My beautiful, my darling, my angel, my dear
Why do you keep backining up when I just want to hold you near?

teartear emotinal but not gruesome. I'm so proud. It can be taken literally or as a metaphor, wichever you prefer. I drew a lot from songs, both phrases and concepts. Death Cab for Cutie's "I Will Follow You into the Dark " and "What Sarah Said" along with "Land Locked Blues" by Bright Eyes. I suppose I was prompted to do a terminally ill love scenario by My Chemical Romance's "Cancer." There's a little bit of "Helena" in there too. Anyway, a lot of musical influence for this one. I don't know, I might come back to this one...feedback?
