Let’s escape from the world we hate,
To a strange land, far from here.
Where trees shine truly,
Their gnarled bark holding secrets wise.
Delicate dewdrops cling to emerald leaves,
With a child’s fragile grasp.
Watch the people,
They laugh and smile
And never cry.
See the cruelties fall away.
Hard anger and maddening despair
Are merely feelings never felt.
But watch the little girl,
With an innocent curiosity,
As she slowly opens the beguiling box.
And amid the disease, sorrow and evil,
There is only hope.
