I wrote this poem in December and entered it into a national poetry contest. I didn't want to put it online untill I found out who had won; I didn't. I wasn't really expecting to either, because, technically this poem is just fine, but it isn't based on my own experiences or feelings. It's hollow to me. Nevertheless, reviews are welcomed.

Senses fail

Senses fail,
When I can't see,
What you used to mean to me.

Senses fail,
When I can't hear,
The song you wrote for me last year.

Vision, hearing,
Scent, taste, touch,
They mean nothing, at least, not much,
When you're not here,
And I can't smell,
Your perfume I still know so well.

Senses fail,
When I forget,
The flavour of your homemade bread.

Senses fail,
But I still miss,
The feeling of your gentlest kiss.
