Growth of the Dancer

The ballerina lifts her leg,

Moving it carefully to her side.

She gracefully raises her arms,

And does a most elegant pose to imitate the swan.

The young girl in the dance studio watches her through the window.

She stares at her in envy.

The child lifts her leg to make it graceful,

But trips and stumbles.

She tries to place her arms above her head in a beautiful manner,

But she cannot get it just right.

The older girl through the window does a thorough spin,

Not stopping even for a moment.

She spins with her hair flying behind her,

Never falling in her face.

The child is discouraged.

The elder girl comes to her and reaches out her hand,

Raising her morale to give another try.

Time twirls by,

A mature girl is beckoning to the prince on stage,

Dancing with him, in complete beauty.

An elder girl in the audience

Who has a broken leg,

Watches the girl crying with a smile.

Hi, this is a poem I wrote when practicing for my musical. We dance, so I got inspired. Oh, and if you want to know what the ending means... Too bad! Make your own perspective. If you REALLY want to know, send me a PM. See 'ya!
