Words

The bubbles are in the sink.
We ignore them.
People pass by in another world,
oblivious to ours.
Spare them a moment, then continue.
You go back to the dishes.
I clean off the counter.
Spoken words hang in the air,
"Later."

Hours pass.
We're seperated by a computer screen,
dear ones talk in the background.
We utter words not suitable for public,
I wait to say goodnight.
You don't leave 'til 12.
Sleep is easy, drenched in memories-to-be.
Hesitant words wait to be said,
"Now."
