But I don’t think I can

Despite my quiet plotting,

And what I thought was a good plan.

The words won’t come out right

Maybe not at all

And there was me who thought I had them

Running to my beck and call.

Anyway,

Here’s the part I meant to say.

In payment for patience and kindness

And the odd rage, judiciously applied

In penance for days when I pushed it too far

Knowing perfectly well that you were sore or tired…
