Life Breath

by fabian cortez

The brightest rise of

Morning shakes my

Weighted sight

To flicker sullied

Into life

-

A barren bunched

Up rest cover,

Cradles about my feet

Clinging for me to not

Leave it solitary once

More

-

Much as it pains me I shall

Not grant its wish, not so

Long it seems, since

Softest flesh

Brushed mine astride,

To paint such a view

-

That sunrise would feel

As storm clouds to pass by,

Her mouth as blossoms

Morning dew, found mine

Impatient to be

Quenched

-

Seas craved our waves of

Passion crashing against

Their rocks, as arid lands

Found crops so drenched

In souls as one

That deserts became

Oceans deep

-

My contemplation

Cannot convey contours

Merged so well as minds

Co-joined in dunes

To know a thought before

An uttered phrase

Expels a note

-

All is as an

Empty vessel now, floating

In wait for a crews

Return; it cannot be

-

You are gone

I breath in the

Sunrise and sunset

Yet my life’s breath passed

Away to the ground

In which you were

Buried
