I want to steal away your face

And make it into a portrait

Which I can hang in the hidden gallery

Of my heart.

I want to feel the touch of your eyes

Alighting on my shoulder, brushing my neck

Though you stand across the room

And merely look.

I want to carry the weight of your arm around my shoulders

As I walk uphill, downtown, and home.

I’ll never notice the burden

So long as it’s you that’s with me.

I want to drink, breathe, and absorb you

Forgetting all other sustenance

Simultaneously wasting away and thriving

In your presence.

I want an infinite number of things

That I may never have.

So for now, I will make do

With the memories I have.
