Healing

Silent screaming ringing in no one’s ears but your own
And glistening metal that no one sees but your eyes
A sting that’s quick and fades away
Into scars that’s left behind

A brightened sky darkens overhead
And silver stars burn into dust
The final dreams of day shatter
Finally nightmares can commence

Memories are branded into the mind that’s seen much -
The mind with eyes that hasn’t seen enough
Those memories will burn and smolder
Into fine ash, blown away dust

Blinding fury as black as death’s core
A searing hatred white as flames
Expectations built up crumble
Flailing whirlwinds untamed

Nothing lasts forever
Nothing ever dies
No one can always stay
But none can say good-bye

If I could come to you, I would
And wrap my arms about you
Security and dreams can be found only in others
And help find the spark that withdrew

So let me embrace you, little one
We’ve both been in pain far too long
I’ll wrap these feathers around you
And together

We’ll find life

A/N: This was actually written during January earlier this year, but I thought it was really badly written. I looked at it again yesterday, and I thought that it was actually okay after all. So, I hope you liked it. If not, please leave constructive criticism. Oh, and this was my first (I think?) (or at least one of my first) attempt(s) at free verse.
