Flush

Silver chloroform clouds

Slip vaporous tentacles

Around my mind

Saturated with liquid

Dust they flood

My thoughts with

Doubt overflowing consciousness

Flush…

Vision blurs as

Eyes fill with

Tears like leaky

Goggles in the

Pool…everyone knows

This silent sorrow

A phantom pain

In the same

Way chlorine always

Stings the eyes

Upon my awakening

Left over poison

Preserves this pain

For the morning

After I discover

That I don’t

Need goggles to

See underwater

I need goggles

To cry
