The stars were bright as Christian, a handsome young man of nineteen, scurried through the streets of 18th century London. Despite his social and financial statuses, he was very attractive, with strawberry blonde hair, clear green eyes, and a lean, muscular body. All was quiet, and not a movement was to be seen.

After walking through the never-ending alleys and streets, he finally reached his destination, the banker's house. Why would a poor son of a farmer be going to the bankers' house? Simple, for the bankers' daughter, Rebecca.

He waited outside, hiding behind the bushes. Smiling slightly, he saw a petite, slender shadow, watching him through the only lighted window, it was Rebecca, and he knew she was waiting for him.

He stepped out of the safety of the shadows the bushes cast upon him, when he saw his darling Rebecca.

"Christian!" shouted Rebecca excitedly; she was a young woman, very beautiful, with suitors coming from all over the place, hoping to receive her hand in marriage. For her hair was silky and straight, like spun gold, and her eyes were colored like honey.

"Rebecca," was Christian's' sole response, but his eyes showed the joy that his lips didn't speak.

Silently, he helped her climb down her balcony, and she let herself fall without restraint into his strong, muscular arms. When she was finally safe on the ground, he led her quietly to an old deserted church house, not a mile away from her home. They let themselves in, and Christian sat down in front of the ancient, dusty piano, letting his fingers dance over the ivory keys, the whole time, singing to Rebecca.

"Why can't we stay like this forever?" whispered Rebecca

"Rebecca, my darling, you and I both know that neither of our parents will let us marry. What do I, a poor farmer, have to offer you, the daughter of a banker?" asked Christian, sadness evident in his voice and etched into his wistful eyes.

"I've already told you," said Rebecca, stroking Christians hair, "I want nothing but your love, I have that, and I need nothing more."

He wrapped his powerful, tanned arms around her slender body, unable to think of anything to say, but tears pouring down his cheeks. Finally, an idea, albeit a depressing one, burst into his mind.

"Rebecca?" his voice hardly able to contain his excitement, "there's a way for us to be together, we've talked about it last year, and we said we'd only resort to it as a last ditch effort. Do you remember what I'm talking about?"

Her eyes widened as she remembered the conversation they had, only a year ago…

Rebecca had just fled the house after her father had revealed to her the news that broke her heart. He would marry her to the mayors' son, Frederick Porter, as soon as she turned 19. She was 17 at the time, and had just begun to fall in love with the poor, friendly farmers' son, Christian.

Running away from the huge, extravagant, white house she lived in, not knowing where she was headed, she bumped into Christian as he was riding his horse into town. He took one look at her angelic face, tears pouring out of her beautiful eyes, and got off his horse and took her for a walk.

As they walked, Rebecca told Christian everything, from the arranged marriage to the mayors' son, and he listened to every word that came out of her mouth.

"There's one thing we can do, my darling, if the worst comes to the worst, as a last resort," he confided to her, sadness overcoming his handsome features.

"What would that be?"

"If you're still forced to marry this Frederick," he said the name with pure disgust, "then we can commit suicide together, we'll be up in heaven, together for eternity."

"I-I…yes, but only as a last attempt, do you understand?"

"Of course," he replied, and he took her back home.

"y-you can't mean…?" questioned Rebecca, her hazel eyes widening with fear and excitement, for doing something so daring.

"I do." was Christans' simple reply.

"I couldn't bear the thought of living without you," she whispered softly into his ears.

"Nor I without you…which is why I'm willing to sacrifice it all for you, tonight." Was Christians reply.

"No!! Not tonight, let's enjoy the time we have together, we'll do the deed tomorrow. Tonight, we'll spend it together, our last precious hours together."

Christian quietly agreed and took her hand as they strolled through the dark, wet streets of London, enjoying their last moments together before they did The Deed.

They drifted away, into the outskirts of London, until they reached a moonlit path that they decided to take a walk in.

After the walk, Christian took Rebecca home and started planning how they would kill themselves for each other.

The next night, Christian went to pick up Rebecca from her astounding house, and rode with her on horseback to a cliff by the seaside. Both looked stunning, her in a white dress, her blonde locks covering her back and shoulders, and him in a black suit which he had bought with the last of his money, just as if they were getting married. They stood there at the edge of the steep cliff, enjoying their last embrace, the warmth of each others' bodies enveloping the other. Then, it was time. They jumped, still in their loving hold. Their bodies plummeting through the air, they never let go of each other.

They died for love.
