Forget Me Nots…
“During the summer, Overhill was working on some stuff that would get you guys to know your peers better. On our website, we have installed a school forum, yes, yes, I know, finally,” there were some snickers heard in the audience.
“Now,” Ms. Lake continued, “last year, as some of you know, the forum was just for the faculty, staff, and parents. Now, we changed that.”
“So does that mean we can enter your forum?” Some random kid in the back was standing.
“No,” Ms. Lake answered, “we moved the forum. So yeah, in case you’re wondering, we’re still talking about you,” more snickers were heard from that comment.
“We made a separate forum for the students. The kids from the student council and other volunteers will be the moderators. Isn’t that great? You guys have your own way of communicating.”
The kids in audience murmured their approval (or disapproval) at the news, and Ms. Lake waited for the talking to die down a bit before she continued, “Oh, but there’s more.”
Silence.
“Now, there’s a special place for the seniors to park and…” she paused for dramatic effect, “every can leave campus for lunch.”
Everyone cheered, some kids even jumped at that. That included Amy Parker, and her little group of friends.
“I thought that that was only for the older kids,” Amy said with a laugh.
“Shush, Amy. You might curse it!” Amy looked at her shorter friend, Matthew Laurey – Matt for short – and gave him a soft punch on the arm.
“I swear, Matt, your paranoid.”
“Says the girl who thinks people are watching her in her bathroom… at home.”
“What,” Amy asked defensively, “you never know.”
“Right…” Matt rolled his eyes, “Lance, tell Amy that I’m not paranoid.”
Amy ran her had through her shoulder length, brown hair as she looked at Lance. He was still sitting in his seat, not really wanting to join the small celebration. Lance looked from Amy to Matt, “You both aren’t paranoid… you guys are mad.”
Matt and Amy both narrowed their eyes at Lance, “Oh, thanks.”
“No problem,” Lance waved his right hand at them; turning is lanky form around at the front of the auditorium. His blue eyes stayed focused on one certain blond haired girl in front of him… who was focused on him too.
“Okay, kids. Celebration’s over,” Ms. Lake was using a microphone, “drag your butts on to class.”
