“Infatuation”
Love is like a bolt of lightning
Striking oh so randomly;
Infecting one with waves of shock
Sent from the heart, throughout the body.
Electricity warms the senses, dulls the mind,
And captures one in an ignorant bliss.
Light dances through the darkness briefly,
Like hope unwilling to be erased.
Yet somewhere in the distance thunder claps,
Marking the ray’s next infatuation.
Ignorant waves of bliss move on
Leaving the former with nothing but ashes,
The entrancing fire now burned out.
How can one survive being struck by lightning?
