Faith jolted awake, panting and covered in sweat. She looked at the time; 12:00 am. It was always the same time when she woke up. Always the same dream. Faith shook in her queen-sized bed. Her Siberian husky, Silver, stared at her as if he knew what she was thinking. She was thinking about her dream.

She remembered her being surrounded in flames, still alive, while she watched the people around her being consumed by flames, dying. She couldn’t do anything because something was holding her back. She tried to look at what was holding her in place but there was a sharp knife pinned to the back of her neck.

She remembered her being pushed off a 50-story building, and her body splattered on the ground, motionless. That was one part of the dream she was very frightened about, but there was one part of the dream that she never took her mind off of.

Faith was in a field of crimson blood. Dead corpses were piled up and laid together, and there wasn’t a spot where there was a space for anyone to walk. But the corpses surrounded Faith, and she stared, petrified, and speechless. Then after a few seconds, she heard a mysterious voice say behind her, “Aren’t you going to save the world…from this? Aren’t you the one?”

Faith turned around and found herself face-to-face with a man in a jet black coat. The only thing that was visible was his eyes. The cloaked man pulled out a gold and black knife. It seemed to shine in the moonlight, even though they both were in a pall of darkness. After a brief silence, the cloaked man stabbed Faith in the chest and-

This was the part where Faith jolted awake. Her dreams began on the day of her 18th birthday. They never occurred earlier, which seemed strange to her. She shook her head in confusion and walked to the bathroom, like she always did every night, and started to drink a glass of water, but spat it out.

“What the hell is wrong with this?” Faith asked herself, and Silver just stared at her with his large yellow oval eyes. She looked away from Silver’s almost hypnotizing eyes and poured the rest of the water down the sink.

Followed by Silver, she shuffled back to her bed and stared at the window. Faith always loved looking at the dark sky and its stars. Sometimes, she would imagine herself flying, soaring over the Conshohocken buildings.

Suddenly, Faith jumped out of bed and walked, almost in a trance, out her hotel apartment window. Silver barked at her, but she acted as she didn’t hear him. She was now looking up at the dark sky, in a dream-like state. She then gazed down at the street below, and smiled as if she were invincible. As if in slow-motion, Faith leaned over the roof and felt herself falling down.
