This poem was written many, many years ago. I hope to one day revise it and turn it into a larger, more epic poem in the vein of 'The Lady Of Shalott' (I'm not particularly happy with the last few lines) but in the meantime, here's the original version, written when I was...thirteen, I believe it was.

-

A voice so clear, so pure rings out,

In the darkness of the night,

Filling loney sailor's hearts,

With merriment and delight,

So intoxicating is the siren,

So beautiful her song,

It makes all those who hear it,

Forget days lonely, hard and long,

A lovely creature is the siren,

Empress of water, nimble, lithe,

Gold tresses upon her head,

Eyes touched with starlight,

The siren's song so soothing,

Lulling the sailors to sleep,

Magic of melody enchants the ship,

So closer it begins to creep,

Toward jagged rocks and crashing waves they come,

But these perils they cannot see,

For they are so blinded by the song,

Of the Siren Of The Sea,

Finally they meet their fate,

Crashed on rocks or drowned at sea,

But these men, they do not care,

For now and all eternity,

They will hear the song of the siren,

The Siren Of The Sea.
