For every fallen
comrade,
This man does leave behind;
A wife, a mother, little
ones,
Now with smiles hard to find.
But so often we forget
to pay,
His other family due;
For the man that stood beside
this man,
He is family too.
We watch these mothers', teary
eyed.
They show us on the news.
But hardly glimpse at the
cam-clad men,
Who's hearts also share this bruise.
These
solid, stern faced soldiers,
Moisture streaming from their
eyes;
These are the forgotten soldiers,
Who hide they've lost
their lives.
For sure as any man,
Who's brother's left this
world.
These blood brothers have lost their hearts,
And now
only know the cold.
Thus when you think of families,
The
ones of fallen men,
Remember the one who's arms they died
in.
Remember the fallen's friend.
