when you came into my life

in a soft green bubble

you allured me with your glow

like an angel shining out of the human disguise

calling me closer and closer

I left behind all words of reason

leaving my fields of corn

for fields of roses

every morn instead of every night

forgoing everything, self included

I followed you to the ocean

for a moment forgetting how to swim

so when I leapt with you

I fell into the water

I awoke to the feel of rain in July

but it was really September

Libra-month, to be exact

You were a butterfly who came to me

and left once I awoke

when you left, you were still here

just farther away than I would've liked...

were you tired of waiting?

when I abandoned my life for you,

I, too, became a butterfly

and returned to my midnight flower

and there I shall remain

for all eternity,

for the flower kept calling

with its painfully sweet scent,

Lover... come back to me...
