Sierra’s quest has taken her to the Living World, where she and Wolfie are quick to realize the danger that The Shadow poses, who is in disguise as a regular elementary school student. There they meet a human by the name of Alex, an ex-gang member and a rough ‘n’ tough tomboy.

Alex listens to their story and claims of being dead, and she readily believes them as she has an Undead companion as well: her ferret, Lilly, who has saved Alex’s life several times.

While the vampire and werewolf are dealing with Meg, Chiroco and Thomas make an interesting discovery—a prophesy that goes along with Sierra’s quest.

To make things worse, Sierra is beginning to experience the cravings that vampires get when they’re in the Living World, thusly she has learned to change her form. And to make things EVEN worse, Sierra’s “pet” spider went to spy on The Shadow and hasn’t come back!

But the real doozy is Wolfie’s revelation that Sierra and The Shadow are a SPECIAL kind of Undead—they can die!

And as if that wasn’t enough, Thomas and Chiroco decide to tell Sierra about the prophecy they’d found, but they get there just in time to see Sierra and Wolfie whisked away into the Afterlife.

Ignoring Thomas’ warning about diving into people’s dreams, Sierra makes an attempt to contact Alex…
