We’re strangers, yet lovers
My emerald stars caress your ebony stare
What does black and green make?
Darling, it makes love

(Not yellow, that’s the color of a coward)

You can’t be a coward
Not with the way you swooped into my life
And claimed my heart as yours
As if nothing else mattered

(But something did matter)

It mattered that are lives are so close
But we are so far apart
That it hurts when I imagine never seeing you again
And it matters that I’m scared

(Scared of silly, childish whims)

I wish I was brave, like you
You’re so perfectly stubborn, too
Or else our love would have died long ago
But you still refuse to let me go

(Not that I’m complaining)
