There is a secret I carry with me everyday,

My whole life could change if the wrong people found out,

It is a secret I used to be unsure of and ashamed of,

But now it is one of which I am proud.

This secret of mine is a part of who I am,

And even though I love myself and this part of me,

It cannot yet be revealed.

There are too many people who discriminate,

Too many people who call it a sin

And I'm not ready to personally feel that hate

From the people to whom I am kin.

Someday my secret will be out,

With it will come my relief,

I can only hope that the world will understand

And support all the women and men

That are different like me.
