The Spoken Path
by Erin Lynn
An unforgotten shadow bends gently at my knees;
my own runs past on a course doubted.
It glides over the afternoon glow and into darkness,
the outline still strong and steady on a black canvas.
Down it tumbles as daylight fades.
I grasp the sky, cry through the warm breeze,
“Hold fast my companion, for I have never
been so well spoken for.”
