AN: Okay, these little drabbles are the steps, in shorthand, leading up to Cale and Andy (from Breakaways) meeting for the first time. Slightly different style than my norm and I know all the pronouns are confusing (all being male) but I hope that you (the few of you that might be out there) like it!

The second time Cale sees him, he is leaving the coffee shop in the student center, arm in arm with a petite redhead and laughing unabashedly at something the girl has said. He is tall and lanky, with a lithe body honed through some sport- he moves with the self-possessed stride of a competent athlete. His clothes are casual and comfortable, and Cale thinks no one could wear them better. Lovingly worn jeans that sit just low enough on his hips, thrift store t-shirt bearing the name of some obscure band, and a pair of well-worn sambas on his feet.

The third time Cale sees him could possibly be the most important yet. The boy is walking past the library when another boy calls to him from across the quad. Suddenly, the new boy is running towards him, waving a paper excitedly in the air. His friend catches him in an exuberant hug, practically vibrating with excitement. Cale can hear the congratulations from where he is reading under the trees. This time, Cale realizes, is important because he has learned something- the pretty boy has a name. And now he knows what it is. His pretty boy’s name is Andy.

The next time Cale sees him (Andy, his name is Andy) it is a new semester and Cale has spent entirely too much of the last month wondering how his pretty blonde (Andy!) was spending the winter holidays. Sitting in his Mythology in Culture course at 9 o’clock on a Monday morning as Dr. Fors introduces herself to the class, his mind is still occupied by the intriguing boy. Needless to say, it is no little surprise when the object of his thoughts quietly slips into the room, five minutes late, with only a slightly sheepish smile in his defense.
