venustas

the spritz

Some poem that I decided to write after mulling over everything I’ve seen in the world, which in comparison to the oldest people I’ve ever known is not much. Enjoy.

Comments and advanced criticism is appreciated.

I see it in the tiniest things:

New life

Curling fetuses

Chests heaving

Pumping blood into little green wiry veins

Something they pushed out from the core in them

Something to hold and love

Seeds scattering through small currents of air

Brushing across blades of green grass

The sun kissing granules of sand on a beach

Each one glistening like some

... Secret pearl

I see it in the most amazing things:

Some skittering things fluttering about

Gossamer white winged things

Kissing light bulbs and scattering the air

... With bits of Dust and moonbeams

Moths, that they are, creatures that seem

... Rather invaluable to some

... But amazing to others

Light cracking the sky apart,

Making clouds blister and billow out

Water droplets pelting the ground

Rumbling thunder reverberating

... In our ears

I see it in the most underrated things:

Skillfully crafted paintings

Colors flowing into one another

A landscape of beats and lyrics

Smooth and fluid like water

Avant-garde movies

Actors reading 8-paged scripts

Donning the most casual attire I’ve ever seen

Polished natural looks, is what they possess

Fluent poets spitting out eloquent rhymes

... That really makes you think

Really makes you wrap your head around it and toss around meanings

All so effortlessly

Little scraps of metal or garbage that can become the next greatest artistic masterpiece

Some earthy vase made of bamboo

Rustling crumpled leaves from last year’s Fall

Crescent moons melding into a dark-indigo sky

I see it in you:

Something in the way you state things

Instills some odd hope in me

Makes me think of sunrises and cloudless skies

Makes me think of picnics in the park

Casual strolls through a (not-so-perfect) neighborhood

Sweet nothings being whispered into the very essence of me

Some acceptance towards you passing through everyone that meets you

The ways you assure me that I’ll do fine in something

Truly earnest and sincere coming from you

The mysteriousness in you that makes me furrow my brow

... In total wonderment at how you do it

I see the beauty in all of these things...

I see the beauty in you

End
