Take a Walk with Me

When a rose’s petal bleeds crimson, white,
While you slumber sound on your throne on high,
We lay down, like a shrivelled root, to die
Like all the others who in your name fight.
Such lowly comprehension does not see
How you stand and admire such beauty when
You are the Destructor of both sides’ men.
Oh Holy Father, take a walk with me;
Explain why we should do as we’re told
When I see a mother have her child torn,
Leaving just a stem, and a lonely thorn,
Abandoned by all, no one left to hold.

So sleep well up in your kingdom on high
While we lay down here, alone to cry.
