Resounding Sound of Glass

Your voice zooms along the line
Like a train on steady tracks
It echoes from your mouth to my ear
And as the word resonates in my drum
I hear my breath falter
And the sniff of coming tears

The word resonates like a clear glass
As it tilts and hits the floor
And smashes with a resounding ring

You hear no doubt
And we laugh about the floor
And how it was so dirty that the
Sterile equipment got dirty too
Like a kid rolling in muck

Like the beginning of an inverted childhood
That hasn’t happened yet
And we try to believe it won’t

On some kind of holiday perhaps
