After the attack on his peer, Charlie quickly returned to his back yard. It was very quiet this particular morning. There were no joggers, no people mowing their lawn. It was as if everyone decided to go to the beach at once, or they were all inside because it was overcast and on the verge of raining. Charlie quickly grabbed the garden hose and started washing Edward off.

Edward seemed to be enjoying the water and closed his eyes as it washed his face.

“You damn zom! Open your mouth!” Charlie yelled at the body of what used to be his father.

Edward yawned, getting bored of the constant stream of water. Charlie seized this opportunity to wash off the blood from Edward’s teeth and mouth. Edward started to choke on the water. Falling to his knees, Edward started grasping at his throat.

Panicking, Charlie turned off the water. Edward stopped choking and pointed at him laughing. “You! I hate you! You’re not my father, just an annoying version of a dog!”

Edward started pouting. He tipped his head down and frowned. He walked over to the house, making sure not to attract any attention; he opened the door and let himself in.

Katharine was standing over the sink washing dishes. “How was the walk Edward?”

Edward groaned in dismay.

“That bad?”

Edward nodded.

“What happened?”

Edward opened his mouth wide and acted like he was biting in to someone.

“You?”

He nodded and frowned even more.

“Did you kill him?”

Edward stuck his hands up to his neck, crossing them and tilted his head.

“You know what this means right?” Katharine was tearing up, starting to cry.

Edward nodded ashamed.

“Charlie, come on in. Lunch is ready!”

Charlie slowly comes in, also dismayed and frowning. “I’m sorry mom. I just wanted to scare him.”

“What happened?”

“I sicked Edward on John. I was just trying to scare him. I-the stupid remote shorted out.”

“Damn those corporate fools! Probably didn’t give them enough money, so they screwed us.”

“What do we do now?”

“We wait for the fallout.” Katharine said disappointed.
